My name is Marla Lopez, Im a microbiologist currently finishing my Master´s degree in biology. My research is focused on the study of parasite ecology, specifically Leishmaniasis. I'm interested in understanding the disease´s transmission cycle and identifying the most important vector and reservoir species that maintain the disease active in various locations of my country Colombia. 

Field work, entomologic captures, taxonomic identification, molecular biology assays and GIS are the principle tools and procedures I use in order to correctly develop and achieve my research goals.
